Concrete Flooring

Everything you need to know for all your flooring needs

Learn About Concrete

Concrete flooring and countertops are tough, resilient and easy to maintain when properly sealed. However, they can become damaged or stained if they are not maintained on a regular basis. Countertops are more susceptible to staining and damage from daily kitchen use such as food prep, cooking, cutting, and spills.
Color can be added to concrete in two ways: during the mixing process at the factory (integral coloring) or stained after it is installed. It is important the concrete be fully cured and dry before sealant is applied. Sealing concrete not fully cured could trap moisture and efflorescence underneath the sealant in the slab.
Efflorescence is caused by water in the concrete evaporating from the slab leaving behind the salts on the surface of the concrete causing a white powdery film. Normally it is worn off or washed away on unsealed concrete surfaces.

Our process for cleaning concrete consists of using appropriate equipment and machinery, as well as hand washing the corners, edges and hard to reach areas. We use a combination of pads, brushes, neutral pH cleaners and degreasers that are safe for your clay tile, your family and the environment. We ensure you receive the most thorough and detailed cleaning possible. Improper or aggressive cleaning can cause damage by breaking down the acrylic finish that protects the concrete. Once the finish is worn, the concrete is vulnerable to staining from pet accidents, dirty mop water, spills, and grime/asphalt from shoe traffic. Our 18+ years of experience with concrete floor refinishing will avoid these issues.

As with all of our work, our technicians move most furniture excluding breakable and smaller items. We pay close attention to detail and ensure that there is no dust and no mess created. We are extremely careful not to cause any damage to adjacent surfaces such as walls, baseboards, cabinets, appliances and carpets

OUR PROFESSIONAL CONCRETE REPAIRS

When it comes to the repair of concrete we offer a variety of services. Whether your concrete is flooring or countertops, we repair cracks and other damage.

01

Cracks in tile or grout

Concrete can crack from expansion and contraction of the slab. This is usually caused by temperature change. These cracks can be filled to improve the overall appearance of the damage. However, the crack will remain visible and most likely reoccur due expansion and contraction of the substrate.

OUR CONCRETE SEALING PROCESS
Sealing concrete after a cleaning will help prevent staining and make routine cleanings much easier. We begin by applying sealant/finish to the surface with a specialized applicator designed to work the seal into the pores of the concrete. We double coat the concrete to ensure the best protection. In certain situations, additional coats are required.

Exterior concrete can not have a topical seal due to heat, UV rays, moisture, etc. The seal can delaminate, discolor and hold in moisture causing maintenance issues and eventually lead to removal of the finish.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR CONCRETE

Cleaning

Concrete should be maintained through frequent sweeping and mopping, using appropriate cleaners and fresh water. Be sure to change mop bucket water multiple times. This keeps the water clean, ensuring that the concrete will continue to look great for years to come.

Mobirise

Professional Work

Depending on traffic and usage, professional cleaning and sealing is recommended, on average, every 3-5 years. When properly maintained and cared for, concrete and its coating will stay looking great for many years.
